Woman in the Moon is great. I really want to go and explore the other films like Spione too, and I've never seen Die Nibelungen (1924) either.
I've not seen enough of the Shanghai films from this period to really pass comment, but I will definitely stand by my comment that "during the silent era no studio ever bridged the gap between art and commerce as successfully as the Berlin-based UFA" - just think of the scale of films like Metropolis and Die Nibelungen. I don't know, I just love the German aesthetic from this time, even the films of Leni Riefenstahl. They're just so powerful and atmospheric.

Good to see they've found the majority of the extra footage now. The version Eureka released before was the most complete at the time but still had a lot of intertitles explaining entire scenes that were no longer there. Woman in the Moon looks great too, will have to check it out.

I'd personally say the Shanghai film industry (from what i've seen) possibly edged it over Germany though.
